Why I Almost Walked Away… and Why I Stayed

If you had asked me not too long ago whether Sew Magarbo would still be here today, I honestly might have hesitated to answer. Running a creative business isn’t always as pretty as the fabrics we sew with. I went through a phase where I was overwhelmed, stretched too thin, and questioning if I could keep Sew Magarbo alive. Lack of manpower, long hours, and the weight of running everything myself had me wondering: Is it time to let go?

But then, something happened.

Every time a friend (aka customer!) walked through the doors and excitedly shared their latest project... Every time someone told me that Sew Magarbo was their happy place... Every time I saw friendships form over fabric and stitches...

I realized that Sew Magarbo isn’t just a business. It’s a creative home.

The sewing world is always evolving, and there’s always something new to create. But what fuels my love for sewing isn’t just the art itself—it’s the people. It’s the conversations, the ideas exchanged, the joy of making something with our hands. The relationships and friendships that have grown within these walls reminded me why I started this journey in the first place. Closing the doors would have meant taking that away—not just from me, but from the incredible community we’ve built together. And let’s be real... sewing is therapy!

My husband saw this before I even fully did. For our silver anniversary, he gifted me something priceless: a revamp of Sew Magarbo. He knew that this place—these people, this passion—makes me happy. And he knew that no matter how exhausted I felt, this wasn’t something I was truly ready to walk away from. Sew Magarbo is here to stay.

So, why am I starting (or restarting) this blog? Because there are so many things I want to share—stories, ideas, behind-the-scenes moments—that don’t quite fit into a newsletter. I want this to be a space where I can dive deeper into sewing techniques, share creative projects, reflect on life as a business owner, and give you exclusive peeks into what’s happening here at Sew Magarbo. A mix of everything that makes this place special.

And, let’s be honest: this is my pre-game for vlogging and maybe even a YouTube show (if I can get over my camera shyness!).

So, welcome to the blog. Welcome to my creative space. If you’re here, you’re part of it. Let’s keep sewing, sharing, and making magic together. 💖

What’s something you’ve created recently that made you happy? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
