Fox Collage

This fox has been the envy of many, catching everyone's eye and provoking many questions: How can I make that? Is it for sale? Can you teach a class on the fox? 

The wait is over and we are happy to announce that the maker of this famous fox quilt is coming back to Sew Magarbo to teach you how to create one of your own. Don't be intimidated by the complexity of this quilt! Ms. Mary will break it down and help even non-sewists create this beautiful fox collage. 

The Fox Collage will be taught in two sessions. Session One includes instruction on creating the 16" x 20" fox collage and options for finishing, all without sewing. Session Two will include instruction on finishing the collage using sewing methods. 

*For those who do not wish to finish their collage with sewing methods, please purchase a ticket for Session One only.

Session One: 

In the first session, students will learn the basics on how to make a collage quilt using the Teeny Tiny Fox pattern by Laura Heine.  This project is made using a raw edge appliqué technique and no sewing is necessary! For finishing, the project can be put on a canvas, assembled as a quilt without batting, or framed. You will leave the class with a partially complete project that can be completed at home. This is a fun creative class where each project will be unique. 

Session Two:

In the second session, students will learn how to finish their Fox Collage by sewing, using free motion quilting. Students will be provided with additional finishing help, including designs to quilt it, how to bind it, as well as displaying the finished quilt.

Skills Taught:

• Introduction to raw edge applique
• Using fabric scraps to create a collage design
• Finishing techniques: free motion quilting, binding, displaying of a quilt
