Fit and Finish: Shirt Dress Weekend

We will be conquering the shirt dress and dialing in our perfect fit. Each student is encouraged to choose from the Lenox from Cashmerette, The Matilda from Meghan Neilson, or the Hinterland from Sew Liberated. Each student should bring a muslin mockup of the chosen pattern to class on Friday. Students are encouraged to trace their patterns and bring their traced patterns and original patterns to class. Friday afternoon we will focus on fit and pattern adjustment, Saturday we will cut and begin to sew, and Friday will focus on couture finishing techniques.

Hello I am Caroline Cook! I have been a passionate sewist since high school, but my fervor for sewing my own clothes came to the forefront in my mid twenties. I have trained as a costume designer and technologist and I currently work for the University of Virginia in that capacity. I have spent years honing my craft and I take great pride in couture finishing. I have worked in theater for over 15 years constructing costumes. Some of my credits include seasons at the Santa Fe Opera and The Opera Theatre of St. Louis. I have taught sewing and pattern drafting at the college level, as well as teaching classes in independently owned fabric stores. I look forward to helping you create a garment you will treasure.
