Venitta McCall is a distinguished educator and sewing enthusiast with a rich background in both academia and the textile arts. She began her journey with Bernina in 1979, acquiring her first machine, the 801 Sport, and mastering garment sewing through the Stretch and Sew method. Over the years, Venitta has expanded her expertise to include Bernina Embroidery Software and various sewing, overlocking, sit-down quilting machines, and embroidery machines.
In her academic career, Ms. McCall served as a professor and administrator at the University of Mary Washington (UMW) in Fredericksburg, Virginia, starting in 1980. She recently retired in June 2023.
Venitta's passion for teaching extends to the sewing community where she has been a Bernina education for over two decades. She specializes in machine embroidery, stitch manipulation, Bernina software instruction, quilting with sergers, and creating intricately embroidered quilts. As an accredited Jenny Haskins Tutor and certified Hoopsisters instructor, she is committed to sharing her knowledge and fostering a love for sewing among her students.
Her unique blend of academic insight and practical sewing experience makes Venitta a valuable resource for both novice and experienced sewists alike.
